Second rule: turn inside out before washing. This reduces abrasion between the print and other garments. Most print wear happens through friction, not just water. Inside-out washing acts like armor for the artwork, especially on larger chest graphics.

Third rule: use mild detergent and skip bleach. Harsh chemicals can break down ink bonds and flatten color. A gentle detergent is enough for everyday wear. Avoid fabric softeners when possible, since residue can build on fibers and reduce breathability.

Drying is where many great tees are ruined. Best option: hang dry in shade. If you use a dryer, choose low heat only and remove promptly. High heat can shrink fibers and accelerate print fatigue. Never over-dry. Your tee should not feel baked when it comes out.

Storage also matters. Fold rather than hang heavy printed garments for long periods, especially if the cotton is soft and drapey. Keep pieces in a dry, cool space away from direct sunlight to avoid unnecessary fading.

For stains, treat quickly and gently. Spot clean with cold water and mild soap before full washing. Avoid aggressive scrubbing on printed sections.
